The Ironton Lions Club will host a diabetic health fair today. The fair, which is also sponsored by Leading Respiratory Services and Basedow Family Clinic, will be from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Ironton City Center.
“This is a way to try and keep our people healthier,” said Lou Pyles, president of the Lions Club. “That’s one thing that can slip up on us. With diabetes, you don’t know you have it until you’re really ill.
Participants can receive a free blood glucose meter. Sugar testing is also free at the fair. Drug representatives will also be at the fair providing information.
There will also be information about the Lions Club’s eyeglasses recycling program and the history of the club.
“We hope it’s going to be a nice afternoon,” Pyles said.
The health fair is free and open to the public.
