FHS presents ‘Shop of Horrors’
ROME TOWNSHIP — Fairland High School will present the musical, “Little Shop of Horrors” March 26-28. Starring are Adrienne Goodwin, Chaz Steele, Caleb Inboden, Trevor Spires, Shelby Fuller, Aija Anderson and Jamila Jones.
The musical follows the story of a young man, who trying to escape the slums of Skid Row, falls in the manipulation of an enormous man-eating plant. The plant puppets that will be used are from a professional puppet maker in Las Vegas, Nev. Friday and Saturday shows will start at 7 p.m. with Sunday’s show at 3 p.m.
Reserved tickets are $15 and are on sale at the high school office. Reserved tickets will be available at the door with general admission $10. Children under 5 are free.
Film festival, to help hospice, HMA
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Appalachian Film Festival 2010 Shorts and Micro-films Category will be presented from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Huntington Museum of Art, Friday, April 16. The event is a collaborative fundraiser between Hospice of Huntington and the museum with proceeds raised to be divided equally between the two organizations.
There will be a cocktail reception from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for individuals and $25 for couples which includes the cocktail reception with food catered by Joe Smith, chef for the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington.
Those attending will be able to cast their ballots for the People’s Choice Award in the shorts and micro-films category with the winner being recognized during the 2010 Appalachian Film Festival. Tickets are available at the museum, Hospice’s gift shopt and Comic World of Huntington.
Rep. Evans to have public meetings
COLUMBUS — State Representative Clyde Evans (R- Rio Grande) will be holding open door public meetings for constituents in southern Ohio.
The meetings will provide an opportunity for the general public to discuss their views and opinions with Evans on state government issues.
The following meeting will be held at the following time on Monday, March 29:
9 a.m. at Norman’s Antiques in Hallsville, in Ross County
The following meetings will be held at the following times on Thursday, April 1:
9 a.m. at the Community Building in McArthur, in Vinton County
11 a.m. at the Markay Cultural Arts Center in Jackson, in Jackson County
2 p.m. at the Proctorville Branch of the Briggs Library, in Lawrence County
4 p.m. at the Rio Grande Village Hall, in Gallia County
All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
