ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP — A Pedro man is in jail this morning after an incident Tuesday evening at Ellisonville Park on State Route 93 in Elizabeth Township.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jeff Hitchcock said deputies were called to the park just before 7 p.m. in response to a man with a gun allegedly threatening suicide.

Josh Wiseman, 25, of 478 Private Drive 13, State Route 93, Pedro, is charged with disorderly conduct and felonious assault. He was taken to the Lawrence County Jail.

Hitchcock said Wiseman told authorities he was upset with his girlfriend.

A shot was fired during the incident; no one was injured although a deputy was standing nearby at the time, thus prompting the assault charge.

The gunshot did break a window in the truck Wiseman was sitting in.

In addition to the sheriff’s office, several agencies including the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the call for assistance. The incident remains under investigation.
