FRANKLIN FURNACE — John R. Patrick, 75, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Garrett, Ky., native was born Dec. 13, 1934, the son of the late George and Angie McQuire Patrick. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lyda Lorraine Arthur Patrick, whom he married Jan. 25, 1955.
Mr. Patrick attended Garrett Schools and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a former employee for the Farm Best Dairies in Ashland, Ky., and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sons, Edgar and Edward Patrick; two brothers, Pat Patrick and Jack Patrick and a sister, Georgia Hanshew.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Bonnie Patrick of Franklin Furnace; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deanna and Donald Pennington, Jonda and Dwight Otworth, and Vickie Patrick and Mark Aliff all of Franklin Furnace; seven grandchildren, Tracy Pennington, Heather Pennington, Trenton Otworth, Trevor Otworth, Travis Otworth, Traye Otworth, and Troy Otworth; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Jeanie Patrick and James and Mona Patrick; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Josephine Scutchfield, Trudy and Bill Carter, Dorothy and Curtis Daniels and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Cleo Watson and the Rev. Randy Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in Haverhill Cemetery with military graveside rites. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
