SOUTH POINT — Mary Dianne Pierce, 60, of South Point, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Chesapeake native was born Sept. 6, 1949, the daughter of the late Tom and Emma Jean Stover Dennison. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Roger Pierce, whom she married Feb. 11, 1971.
Mrs. Pierce was a 1968 graduate of Chesapeake High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Jeffersonville Missionary Baptist Church in Coal Grove.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Shannon Pierce of Ironton, Travis and Heather Pierce of South Shore, Ky. and Justin and Aida Pierce of South Point; a granddaughter, Sarah Jo Pierce of South Shore; two special girls who were like daughters, Kelsie Myers of Waterloo and Allison Sias of Willow Wood; and a brother, Thomas Dale Dennison of Huntington, W.Va.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Jeffersonville Missionary Baptist Church in Coal Grove with Pastor Roger Colegrove officiating. Burial will follow in Ice Creek Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home and the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
