PEDRO — Clarence Stewart Wilson, 85, of Pedro, passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at his residence.
The Pedro native was born May 7, 1924, the son of the late William Patrick and Nellie Mae Bennett Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Olena Marie Callicoat Wilson, whom he married July 21, 1950.
Mr. Wilson was a graduate of Kitts Hill High School and a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during WWII. He was a custodian for Symmes Valley High School for 32 years, retiring in 1994 and also a self employed farmer. He was a member of the Symmes Valley Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five sisters, Verna Skillings, Faye Shively, Dorothy Johnson, Beatrice Hieronimus, and Blanche Hieronimus and two brothers, William Patrick Wilson and Ernie Wilson.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence Donald and Carla Wilson of Willow Wood and Danny Ray and Vickie Wilson of Scottown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Faye Wilson and Daniel Wilburn and Donna Kay and John Sheppard all of Willow Wood; 10 grandchildren, Shelly and Steve Slone, Ryan and Kimilee Wilson, Julie Malone, Kristie and Steve Owens, Dustin Wilson, Michaela Sheppard, and Jarod Sheppard; seven great grandchildren, Andy Slone, Abigail and Zayne Wilson, Drew and Jenna Malone, Wyatt and Levi Owens.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Neel officiating. Burial will follow in Wilgus Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Symmes Valley V.F.W. Post 2761.
