SCIOTODALE — Charles “Charlie” E. Mauk, 75, of Sciotodale, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at his home.
Charlie retired from Community Action in 1987 and loved to go hunting and fishing. For nearly 40 years he shot the cannon at Wheelersburg football games when the Pirates scored a touchdown. Even though he was unable to shoot the cannon, he still loaded the shells for every home game.
A son, Randall Mauk, preceded him in death in 2007. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Tommy Porter, Ryan, Porter, Cori Martin, Danielle Simon, Andrew Simon and Rachel Collier. He had four great-granddaughters: Taylor, Cortni and Savana Martin and LeeAnn Porter.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Fern Mauk; his three daughters, Donna (Tom) Porter, of South Webster, Doris (Dan) Simon of Portsmouth and Devona Collier of Sciotodale. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Tommy Porter, Ryan, Porter, Cori Martin, Danielle Simon, Andrew Simon and Rachel Collier. He had four great-granddaughters, Taylor, Cortni and Savana Martin and LeeAnn Porter.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with burial immediately following at Wheelersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
