SOUTH POINT — Leo E. “Jack” Butcher, 78, of South Point, went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2009, from St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
Leo was born March 20, 1931, in South Point, a son of the late Benjamin and Nancy Freeman Butcher.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
He worked 57 years as a blacksmith.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby; sons, Danny Butcher, Benjamin Butcher and Jack David Butcher, all of South Point and Rickey Butcher of Kitts Hill; grandchildren, Jaclyn Butcher, Jessica Butcher, Jeremy Butcher, Tyler Butcher, Candace Butcher, Bryce Butcher, Travis Butcher and Erika Powell; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Cathleen Stevens and Bernice Rickard both of South Point and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Bartrum officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.schneidergriffin.com.
