COAL GROVE — Mary Lou “Blondie” Dean, 80, of Coal Grove, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at a local health care center. The Huntington, W.Va., native was born April 6, 1928, the daughter of the late Oscar and Susan Kimble Kitts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean, who passed away Jan. 22, 1996.
Blondie attended Aid Schools and was a homemaker. She was the oldest member of the Betterment Club of Coal Grove and was a member of the Coal Grove Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennette Christie; four brothers, Bert Kitts, Robert Kitts, Harold Kitts and Bashton Kitts; and two sisters, Ida Kitts and Lucille Kitts.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Stewart of Coal Grove and Luan Dean of Rockford, Ill.; a son and daughter-in-law, Rocky and Teresa Dean of Coal Grove; a sister, Bess Justice of Middletown; a brother, Tracy Kitts of Ironton; five grandchildren, John C. Stewart, Fiona Thomas, Heather Duvall, Andy Dean and Taylor Dean; two great-grandchildren, Madeline Duvall and Sage Thomas; and a stepson, Larry Dean of Dayton.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Coal Grove Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Jeff C. Canfield and the Rev. Richard Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home and Friday from noon until time of service at the church.
