KITTS HILL — A Kitts Hill man has been arrested after an investigation into child pornography viewing at the Ohio University Southern campus.

James Terry, 22, of 2530 County Road 5, Kitts Hill, was charged with pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor. He was taken to the Lawrence County Jail.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said his office was contacted a few days ago by Ohio University police regarding child pornography being downloaded by wireless connection on or near the OUS campus.

Authorities believe Terry, who was once a student at OUS but is not enrolled at this time, used passcodes and other necessary information to access the university’s Internet system with his own lap top while parked in the university parking lot or at places near the campus. Lawless said detectives searched Terry’s residence Friday afternoon.

“A computer and some computer items were collected as evidence. During the interview he provided some information that led to his arrest,” Lawless said. “The investigation is ongoing.”

Terry will be arraigned Monday in Ironton Municipal Court.
