Three men arrested for a string of Kitts Hill burglaries were indicted this week by a Lawrence County grand jury.
Burnal Aldridge, 29, of 1923 S. Fourth St., Ironton, was indicted on two counts of burglary, three counts of theft, two counts of breaking and entering and one count each of possession of criminal tools and attempt to commit burglary.
Willis D. Cochran II, 22, of 425 Township Road 336, Ironton, was indicted on one count of complicity to burglary. Larry Delawder, 24, of 909 1/2 R N. Second St., Ironton, was indicted on two counts of attempt to commit burglary.
All three were arrested in late November after a string of robberies along or near County Road 5 in Kitts Hill. One victim told Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies she awoke to find people with flashlights walking through her home.
One man even came into her bedroom where she was lying and took a diamond ring, a digital camera and an engraved I-pod. When he discovered she was awake, the intruder allegedly fled.
One elderly handicapped woman told deputies her kitchen had been plundered and medication taken.
Other nearby residents reported their cars or outbuildings were entered or that someone tried to get into their homes late at night or during early morning hours while they were asleep.
The loot lifted from the alleged incidents included toolboxes, a cell phone, money, hunting gear and clothing.
Some of the items people reported stolen were allegedly confiscated from the suspects at the time of their arrests, according to a sheriff’s office report.
The grand jury examined 26 cases and returned 25 indictments, or true bills. Of those, five were secret indictments for drug offenses.
According to information from the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, the grand jury met Monday and Tuesday.
