Once the South Point Lady Pointers got started, it was hard to stop them.

Leading just 14-10 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Pointers erupted for 26 points in the second quarter en route to a 73-35 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Fairland Lady Dragons on Monday.

Ericka Leighty had six points to give South Point the early lead. Mackenzie Rucker had six points to keep Fairland close.

But Kayla Fletcher scored nine points including a 3-pointer in the second quarter to ignite the outburst. Tinesha Taylor and Allison Mitchell had six points each for South Point to help build a 40-19 cushion at the break.

Jalynn Bradburn took over the bulk of the scoring in the third quarter with nine points including a triple as South Point opened up a comfortable 54-26 lead.

Shelby Fuller and Rucker combined for all of Fairland’s seven points in the quarter.

South Point (7-0, 2-0) had four players in double figures with Jalynn Bradburn scoring 17 and Fletcher 16.

Taylor had 12 points and six rebounds while Leighty got 11 points and seven boards. Allison Mitchell the Lady Pointers with eight rebounds.

Rucker and Fuller scored 11 points each for the Lady Dragons (1-4, 0-2).
