“A Helping Hand” offers all types of assistance. Tanner Riley added another branch office.
Riley came off the bench to score a career-high 20 points and help the St. Joseph Flyers to a lopsided 89-38 win over the Ohio Valley Christian Defenders Friday.
“We got some things we wanted to improve on. We had some guys come off the bench who did a good job overall,” said Flyers’ coach Kevin Sheridan.
Chad Harvey led the Flyers with 26 points, five rebounds and seven assists in less than three quarters of work.
Joseph Unger came off the bench to grab seven rebounds. Center Caleb Blackburn had six rebounds and Payton Blair picked OVC’s pockets for five steals.
Kyle Scott scored 11 points to lead the Defenders (1-5).
Harvey and Riley combined for 10 points as St. Joseph (3-1) took a 15-9 first quarter lead.
St. Joseph outscored OVC 30-9 in the second quarter to build a 45-18 cushion at the break. Harvey pumped in 10 points, Riley had six more, and Pat Gagai five in the quarter.
While the defense held the Defenders to just three points in the third quarter, Harvey had 10 more points and Gagai drained a triple and the lead ballooned to 71-21.
Riley scored six points in the fourth quarter while Scott had seven for OVC.
