Rebounding lifts St. Joseph o ver Lady Wildcats, 35-22

Maybe Katie Hacker should do commercials for Windex.

Hacker cleaned the glass with 15 rebounds as the St. Joseph Female Flyers beat the Hannan Lady Wildcats 35-22 Thursday.

Michelle Staton led the Female Flyers with 12 points and she pulled down eight of St. Joseph’s 32 rebounds. Hacker also scored nine points while Sarah Basedow had eight points and four rebounds.

Hannan led 6-3 after the first quarter with Hacker scoring all of St. Joseph’s points.

But Basedow got six points in the second quarter and the defense held Hannan to two points as the Female Flyers took a 16-8 halftime lead.

“We came to life in the seconds quarter once we got comfortable with our surroundings,” said Female Flyers coach B.J. Hannon.

Staton took over in the second half and scored 10 of her points as St. Joseph outscored Hannan 19-14.

The Female Flyers host South Gallia Monday.
