The Barack Obama campaign will have a grand opening ceremony for its Ironton office at 10 a.m. Saturday. The office is at 210 S. Third St., across from Toro Loco restaurant.
Olivia Alair, regional communications director for the Obama campaign in Ohio, said the Democratic presidential candidate’s campaign has opened more than 70 small offices throughout the state in an effort to reach rural Ohio voters. After the grand opening, volunteers will fan out across the area and conduct a “Knock for Barack” — they will knock on doors and talk to people about the presidential race.
“It’s about neighbors talking to other neighbors in our communities,” Alair said.
Alair said last weekend, the “Knock for Barack” efforts reached 185,000 people.
