According to Sheriff Tim Sexton, three individuals went to 9 Private Drive 8006, County Road 1.

“During a struggle the handgun was taken from one of the suspects,” said Sexton, who added one of the suspects ended up shot in the back.

“We believe all three suspects fled the scene and went to the Sheridan Manor apartment,” the sheriff said.

Sheridan Manor is few miles from the site of the alleged robbery.

The shooting victim was transported by Southeast Ohio Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital. His name, condition and the name of the hospital where he was taken are not being released at this time. The sheriff’s office is also withholding the name of the residents at the Private Drive apartment.

A third suspect was still at large this morning.

“We believe there was a robbery attempt and that was confirmed in interviews,” Sexton said.

The motivation for the robbery attempt is still under investigation.
