Pointers power past Portsmouth Notre Dame

PORTSMOUTH — The South Point Pointers used a power surge to shock the Portsmouth Notre Dame Titans.

Jordan Fletcher hit two home runs and Jacob Seagraves added another as the Pointers beat the Titans 7-5 Thursday in a non-league game.

Beau Weed, Seagraves and Tyler Smith all singled to put the Pointers up 1-0 in the top of the first, but the Titans tied the game in the bottom of the inning.

Notre Dame scored twice in the second inning to lead 3-1 only to have the Pointers answer with four runs in the third inning.

Fletcher hit a home run to start the rally. Weed doubled and Seagraves singled to tie the game. Smith doubled home Seagraves and Jake Adkins singled in Smith.

The Titans got within 5-4 in the third but Fletcher hit his second solo home run in the fourth and it was 6-4.

After the Titans got a run in the sixth, Seagraves gave the Pointers an insurance run as he slammed a solo shot in the seventh inning.

Seagraves was 3-4, Fletcher and Stephen McClure 2-3, and Weed and Smith 2-4 as the Pointers had 11 hits.
