Ohio rolls past EMU, 75-63

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — Sonny Troutman scored 19 points and Leon Williams added 14 to lead Ohio to a 75-63 victory over Eastern Michigan on Wednesday night.

Mychal Green added 11 for the Bobcats (9-2, 3-0 Mid-American Conference), who have won three straight games and are off to their best conference start in five seasons.

Freshman Gino Smith scored a career-high 18 points to lead the Eagles (3-8, 0-3), who have lost four straight and five of their last six. John Bowler had 16 points and 11 rebounds. He entered the game as the conference’s leading scorer, averaging 20.2 points.

Ohio held Eastern Michigan scoreless over a 6:05 stretch and outscored the Eagles 17-1 to take a 22-6 lead.

The Eagles climbed within eight points late in the first half, but the Bobcats scored six points in the final 10 seconds to push their lead to 14 points at the break.

Ohio extended its cushion to 20 points in the second half and did not let the Eagles come closer than 12.
