FRANKLIN FURNACE — Jessica Dyer and Traci Elrod have been voted the Green Lady Bobcats’MVP: Most Vital Players.

Elrod and Dyer had four steals each to spark the defense as the Lady Bobcats beat the Eastern Lady Eagles 53-36 Thursday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“Jessica Dyer and Traci Elrod don’t score a lot of points, but they forced a lot of turnovers. They’re vital to our defenses. They both get after it pretty good,” Green coach Dale Royse said.

Elista Hall scored 19 points to lead Green (6-4, 5-3 SOC). Kortney Pfleger had 13 points and eight rebounds.

After falling behind 11-4 in the first quarter, Hall scored 11 points including three 3-pointers in the second quarter as Green outscored Eastern 24-6 to take a 28-17 halftime lead.

“We picked it up offensively. We had a little better movement to open things up, and we put some pressure defense on them and got some fastbreak points,” Royse said.

Green continued to pull away in the third quarter by going in front 41-25.

“We shot the ball better. We were able to get some shots out of the paint,” Royse said. “We want to have some balance between our inside and our outside game.”
