Defense gives SP girls win

PEDRO — The defense has come to life for the South Point Lady Pointers.
Limiting Rock Hill to single digit points in three of four quarters, the Lady Pointers beat the Redwomen 61-35 in an Ohio Valley Conference game Tuesday.
“We played pretty well. We were pretty aggressive on defense,” said South Point coach Dave Adams.
Jessica Craft scored 19 points to lead the Lady Panthers. Whitney Woody added nine points.
Bobbi Harper had nine points and Mandi McKenzie eight to lead Rock Hill (2-7, 0-2).
Craft had six points in the first quarter and the South Point defense limited Rock Hill to three points and it was 14-3.
Whitney Woody and Craft scored four points each in the second quarter as the lead grew to 28-12 at the half. McKenzie had six of the nine Rock Hill points in the quarter.
Craft scored eight points in the third quarter to match Bobbi Harper for Rock Hill as the Lady Pointers pushed their lead to 45-27.
South Point allowed Rock Hill single digit points for the third time in the fourth quarter as the Lady Pointers outscored the Redwomen 16-8 to win going away.
South Point plays Vinton County at noon Thursday in the Logan Holiday Classic.
Rock Hill plays at Symmes Valley on Monday in a game rescheduled for a noon start.
