ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP - The Rock Hill Board of Education Tuesday evening agreed to ask the Ohio State Auditor's Office to conduct an audit of the district's finances for the fiscal years of 2005 and 2006 to date.

The state audits the finances of local governments, including school boards, annually but Superintendent Lloyd Evans said the audit request was necessary because of concerns about &#8220a lot of expenditures” during those fiscal periods.

Evans said, however, there was nothing too out-of-the-ordinary with the request.

&#8220Anytime there is an administration change or major board change it isn't unusual for an audit to be asked for,” Evans said.

During the time frame, Evans is concerned about, he was dismissed from office and then returned by court proceedings as superintendent.

Three new board members took office, were then removed from office and replaced and the Lawrence County school board assumed control for a period.

Also, the district had an interim superintendent, Lowell Howard, followed by an acting superintendent, Steve Lambert, who is principal at Rock Hill High School.

Also Tuesday , the board hired Rachel Klaiber as school district nurse, granted holiday bonuses to permanent employees, approved a 50-cent-an-hour pay increase to classified substitute employees and approved a request from the Decatur Township Volunteer Fire Department for surplus equipment from the old Decatur school.
