Coal Grove at River Valley
River Valley is 1-4, has allowed 37 points a game and their best running back is out with an injury.
More bad news. The Coal Grove Hornets are coming to town.
The Raiders are missing running back Chris Edwards who has a broken fibula and won't return until the final game of the season. Freshman Zak Deel (6-2, 223) will fill the running back slot.
However, back this week will be quarterback Bryan Morrow who has been out the past two weeks with a concussion.
The return of Morrow could help considering split end Michael Cordell had 151 receiving yards last week.
Coal Grove (4-1) will rely on running back Justin Hyland who has 1,082 yards on 192 carries.
South Point at Rock Hill
A contrast in styles will collide as the South Point passing attack attempts to outscore the Rock Hill ground game.
The Pointers (3-2) are coming off a disappointing 35-32 loss to Northwest despite a big game by running back Rocky Roe who ran for 97 yards and caught three passes for 124 yards, two for touchdowns. He also had a 62-yard scoring run.
While quarterback Chris Smith (42 of 95 for 589 yards
and 7 TDs) has a plethora of receivers, the Redmen (4-1) have a stable of running backs that include K.C. Christian, T.J. Blagg, Dustin Harper, Derek Robinson and Josh "Deuce" Moore.
Christian has rushed 85 times for 769 yards and 11 touchdowns. Blagg has 290 yards on 64 carries.
Green at Symmes Valley
It's offense vs. defense.
The Symmes Valley Vikings (3-2, 1-0 SOC) feature a power running attack that averages 27 points a game. The Bobcats (3-2, 0-1) have allowed 16 points a game and only 8.0 per game excluding last week's 48-0 loss at the hands of Division V Lucasville Valley, who is unbeaten.
The Vikings fullhouse backfield is led by fullback Matt Owens with 484 yards on 55 attempts and halfback Derek Carpenter with 476 yards on 54 rushes. Seth Saunders has 136 yards on 32 tries.
Quarterback Chris Capper has 213 yards rushing and has
completed 15 of 30 passes for 206 yards and five touchdowns. Kirt Shipley leads the Vikings with three receptions for 82 yards and a TD. Kyle Meadows had four catches for 66 yards and Carpenter has six grabs for 57 yards.
Green's offense revolves around fullback Mark Castro with 100 carries for 471 yards. Quarterback Derek Lewis has completed 12 of 26 passes for 185 yards.
Law. County at Ironton
Let's get physical.
Ironton's physical running game will meet a team with similar ideas of playing physical when the Lawrence County Bulldogs visit Tanks Memorial Stadium.
While the running tandem of Darius Lewis (544 yards) and Jared Murphy (296 yards) is the strength of the offense, Ironton has been effective throwing the ball when needed.
Quarterback Chad Miller is 18 of 33 for 331 yards. Brandon Walker has caught seven passes for 251 yards.
