Zonefest set to get Ironton#039;s toes tapping

Music lovers, this weekend is for you.
The third annual Zonefest will be Friday and Saturday on The EndZone parking lot
at Second and Adams streets in Ironton. It is sponsored by The EndZone. As many as 1,000 people are expected to attend and five area groups are scheduled to perform.
Organizer Rob Brumfield said the idea behind the two-day event is simple: Fun in the summertime.
"ZoneFest was created because my mother, Anne Haynes, who owns The EndZone, decided she wanted to do something outside during the summer to get people out to have a good time," Brumfield explained. "After brainstorming with myself and Bob McDowell, who helps me coordinate ZoneFest, we came up with this idea. It worked pretty well, as this is the third year and attendance goes up about 60 percent each year."
The event benefits a local non-profit group each year. This year it is Ironton Little League.
Gates open at 5 p.m. both nights. Live music starts at 7 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday.
Although The EndZone will remain open during the event, food, non-alcoholic beverages and beer will also be sold outside during the event, all of which will be provided by The EndZone.
Band merchandise will be available and a booth will feature a regional photographer and his work. Presale tickets are available from the bands or The EndZone and cost $4. Gate charge the days of the event will be $5.
Friday,
The Genuine Junk Band will kick off the event with a concert from 7 to 9 p.m., followed by Common Ground from 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Saturday, Knucklehead will perform from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by Nite Shift from 9 to 11 p.m. and The Damnits from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
