South Point - Educators that knew him remember Eddrick Clark, 18, of South Point as a young man with an infectious smile.

Clark was one of four teens who were shot and killed early Sunday at a Huntington, W.Va., home on Charleston Avenue.

Clark, Michael Dillon, 17, of Huntington; Megan Poston, 16, of Barboursville; and Dante Ward, 19, of Huntington were killed about 4:30 a.m., according to the Huntington Police Department.

A senior at South Point High School, those who knew Clark reflected on the tragedy of losing such an beloved young man.

"He had a beautiful smile. He smiled all the time," Principal George York

said.

"The kids loved him, he came to us from Cincinnati at the beginning of year. He was a good kid, it was very tragic."

Assistant Principal Eddie Scott said that Clark was a very engaging young man and was extremely well mannered.

"That's what I first noticed about him, how he looked you in the eye and was polite," he said.

Clark had some kids that he was very close to and his girlfriend and most of his friends were seniors, who had their last day of school on Friday, Scott said.

Clark would have graduated from South Point this Sunday.

The youth lived with his grandmother in South Point. He did not attend the prom on Saturday or the after-prom which lasted from 1 a.m. until 5 a.m.

"He was a good guy, he was a kid we wished we would've seen graduate," Scott said.

"My hope for Eddrick was that he was going to be successful."

Principal York said that it brings reality to some of the students since they think things like that happen elsewhere. But this tragedy occurred far to close to home.

One neighbor near the home where the shootings occurred said her family awoke to yelling, then heard a girl beg for her life, then gunfire, WOWK-TV reported.

Three of the teens were dead when police arrived and the fourth died a short time later at Cabell-Huntington Hospital, a police press release said.

Police have yet to establish a motive. Investigators worked all morning collecting evidence and trying to control an emotional crowd of up to 100 people that gathered at the site of the shooting, WOWK reported.

One woman, apparently the mother of one of the victims, broke through police tape to get to her slain child.
