One man is dead, another injured after a fatal car crash in Ironton late Sunday night.

Richard Aaron Kelley, 27, of Walnut Street was killed when the car he was riding in struck two parked cars in the 1500 block of South Third Street. Kelley was pronounced dead at the scene by Lawrence County Coroner's Assistant Bill Nenni.

The driver of the car, James McComas, of 3648 State Route 217, Willow Wood, was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., where he is listed in fair condition.

Ironton police detective Jim Akers said the accident remains under investigation. "Evidently it was failure to control," Akers said. "I assume speed was also a factor."

The accident happened just before midnight.
