CHESHIRE - Like a bad telephone line, the Rock Hill Redmen couldn't make a connection.

The Redmen managed to connect on just 18 of 56 field goal attempts as they lost 51-39 to the River Valley Raiders Friday night in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

The Raiders were 3 of 6 from behind the 3-point line and they did it all in the first quarter as they took a 17-4 lead. Colby Reese, Stephen Harder and Derek Smith all hit the deep ball as the Raiders built the big early lead.

The Redmen struggled from the field in the first quarter as they made only 2 of 11 shots and were just 10 of 26 the first half.

River Valley built a 31-21 lead at the half.

Rock Hill forced the Raiders into nine turnovers in the third quarter and cut the lead to 37-29 with 2:57 on the clock.

Leading 39-31 after three quarters, the Raiders converted 8 of 11 free throws and the Redmen went scoreless from the 7:36 mark until 3:36 remained.

Mark DePriest and Andrew Stumbo each had 9 points and 6 rebounds to lead the Redmen (5-15, 1-9).

Reese scored 19 points and had 8 rebounds while Harder added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the Raiders (10-10, 5-5). Chris Roush had 8 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.

Rock Hill will play in the Division II sectional tournament at 7 p.m. Monday against Washington Court House at Southeastern High School.
