It might be a night game, but the Lawrence County Bulldogs will be using their own version of sun block.

The Bulldogs have an offensive line that could block out the sun when they play in the light of day.

The center is Andrew Hogan who is 6-foot, 283 pounds. The left guard is Doug Thompson who tips the scales at 6-4, 320 and his running mate at tackle is Dustin Branham who goes 5-8, 276.

The tight end is Adam Preston who is 5-10, 210.

The backside relies on quickness instead of size. Guard Will Hatten is 6-2, 205, and tackle Josh Ferguson is 6-foot, 194.

"Their size creates quite a match up problem for us," Ironton coach Bob Lutz said. "We have decent size, but we're nowhere close to their size and that's something you can't simulate in practice."

Ironton's defensive tackles are Michael Phillips at 5-10, 250, and Josh Carty who is 6-foot, 210. Nose guard Andrew Walker is 5-9, 185.

"We'll have to make some adjustments," Lutz said.

Lawrence County likes to use the Indiana-I which has three running backs in an I-formation behind the quarterback. The Bulldogs also use the wishbone, slot-I and double slot formations.

Aaron Smith (5-10, 190) is the fullback and Morgan Roberts (5-8, 152) is the leading rusher from his tailback spot.

"Smith is a hard runner. You have to wrap up. You don't bring him down with an arm tackle," Lutz said. "They have some good skilled players. Their quarterback throws the ball pretty well and (Jason Spradlin) is a very athletic receiver. He goes to the ball well."

Defensively, the Bulldogs use a 4-4 alignment and plug the middle - one of Ironton's offensive strengths - with Kyle Carter (6-1, 270) and Dustin Branham (5-8, 276).

The ends are Larry Fitzpatrick (5-8,175) and Brian Lawrence (5-11, 215). The inside linebackers are Martin Davis (5-9, 192) and either Thomas Stone (6-3, 188) or Nathaniel Daniels (6-1, 221), and the outside backers are Smith and Hatten.

In the secondary are Blevins, Dave Michael and Thomas Lewis.

"They're very aggressive defensively. They don't sit still. They're always moving people and coming after you," Lutz said.

The game marks the first meeting ever between the two schools.
