GALLIPOLIS - And the offense keeps coming.

The Chesapeake Panthers reached double digits in hits for the second straight game as they beat the Gallipolis Blue Devils 6-3 Wednesday.

"We've been hitting the ball well lately. Hopefully, we can keep it up," Panthers coach Joe Waugh said.

Justin Finley and Jeff Gilkison were 2-3 while Benji Pyles, Phillip Butcher and Matt Whitmore all went 2-4 to pace an 11-hit attack.

The Panthers took a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning.

Pyles doubled to start the rally and Finley tripled him home. Gilkison was hit by a pitch and Whitmore and Butcher each singled home a run. Zach Henderson also singled to drive in a run.

The Panthers got two insurance runs in the fifth inning.

P.J. Rase was safe on an outfield error, Finley singled and both moved up on Gilkison's single. Butcher then delivered a two-run single.

Gallipolis got all three of its runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Steve Kenney walked, moved up on a fielder's choice and Tyler Clagg singled. Luke Haislop, Austin King and Casey Taylor all had RBI singles.

Rase got the win with relief help from Kersten Harris.

Chesapeake, 14-6, plays at Rock Hill Thursday in the Ohio Valley Conference finale. The Panthers need a win to gain a share of the league title.

The Panthers had 17 hits as they routed South Gallia 16-6 on Tuesday. Finley was 4-4, Butcher 3-3 and Keith Marcum 2-2 to pace the offense.

Harris got the win as he struck out nine, walked two and gave up five hits.
