PROCTORVILLE - Second verse, same as the first.

For the second straight day, the Fairland Lady Dragons and Rock Hill Redwomen hooked up in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

And for the second straight day, Fairland came away with a 1-0 win to clinch the OVC championship outright.

The championship was the fourth straight conference title for the Lady Dragons

"Our girls worked hard for that. The seniors stepped up and made it special on Senior Night," Lady Dragons coach Leroy Baise said.

"You always set goals at the beginning of the year and that's the first time we've won it four times in a row. The girls were always ready to play and the parents are always there to help, too. And you can't do it without assistant coaches."

Assistant coaches are Joe Auxier, Sharon Graham and Lori Estep.

Fairland is now 14-5 on the season and finishes 8-2 in the OVC. Megan Auxier pitched a five-hitter to best Rock Hill's Bobbi Harper, who allowed just two hits. Auxier struck out nine and did not walk a batter. Harper fanned three and issued only one base on balls.

The game was scoreless until Fairland got an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Kate Nida drew a one-out walk and Brittany Brunty went in as a pinch-runner. Kristen Clausing was safe on an error to put runners at first and second.

Brunty stole third and came in to score when the throw went into left field.

Rock Hill, 15-6 and 4-5 in the OVC, was led offensively by Cassie Chaffins, who went 2-3.
