CARTER COUNTY, Ky. - A Carter County, Ky., man will appear in District Court today to be arraigned on charges of murdering his parents.
Andrew Young, 24, ended the nearly month-long search for Gary and Cheryl Young Saturday when he led authorities to the bodies.
"Andrew Young contacted his attorney at 1 a.m. Saturday morning and his attorney in turn contacted the Greenup County Commonwealth's Attorney and said he wanted to tell police where the bodies were.
"The Greenup County Commonwealth's Attorney contacted detectives in the case," Kentucky State Police trooper Elliott Gollihue said. " Young then took them to an area known as the Mushroom Mines, near Lawton."
Gollihue said it appears the Young's were killed by multiple gunshot wounds. He declined to speculate on a motive.
Andrew Young's girlfriend, Stephanie Griffith, who has been charged with kidnapping in connection with the Youngs' deaths, has not been charged with murder at this time, Gollihue said.
The Youngs were reported missing last month by relatives after they failed to show up for work.
Andrew Young was apprehended last week in Meade County, Ky., and at that time he and Griffith were each charged with two counts of kidnapping.
Young is also wanted on a fugitive from justice warrant stemming from an incident in Lawrence County in October 2002.
