Man arrested on burglary, rape charges

An Ironton man is behind bars this morning, charged with aggravated burglary and rape.

According to the Ironton Police Department log, officers received a call at 8:40 Saturday from a woman who said a man with whom she was acquainted broke into her residence overnight, held her against her will, and struck her. The woman said she had managed to escape her residence and call for help.

Police arrested Robert B. Williams, 23, of 2631 S. Sixth St., Ironton just before 9 a.m. He was taken to the Lawrence County Jail.

Williams was also wanted an outstanding warrant.
