It was quite a season for Lawrence County football teams, both on and off the field.
Five area teams qualified for the playoffs, and 30 players were honored by being named to the Associated Press Southeast All-District team Tuesday.
Ironton, Rock Hill, Chesapeake, Fairland and Symmes Valley all earned postseason playoff berths and had multiple all-district selections.
Ironton, 9-1 in the regular season, led the district selections with five first team picks and four players earned honorable mention. Bob Lutz was named the Division IV coach of the year as he led the Fighting Tigers to their 22nd playoff appearance and won his 300th game at Ironton and 321st overall.
Senior defensive back Josh Sands topped the Ironton picks with a first team selection and was the runner-up for the Defensive Player of the Year to Wellston linebacker Lance Phillips.
Also on the first team for Ironton were wide receiver Nick Collins, offensive lineman Jeremy Akers, linebacker Clay Price, and defensive end Steven Elswick. All were seniors.
