The Ironton Fighting Tigers remained the same. Then again, they didn't.
Ironton was again third in the Associated Press Division IV high school football poll announced Tuesday, but the point totals were starting to close.
The Fighting Tigers, 7-0, trail second-place Versailles by just 12 points. Coldwater is first with 305 points, Versailles had 276 and Ironton has a total of 264 points.
Ironton had an increase in first-place votes, too. Ironton had five first place votes last week, but eight this voting period. Coldwater leads with 17 first-place votes while Versailles again had three.
With Coldwater and Versailles scheduled to play each other this week in a game that is expect to decide their league championship, Ironton could climb at least one more spot with a win over Division I Pickerington North.
Youngstown Cardinal Mooney stayed in the fourth spot with 196 points. Clinton-Massie was fifth, just four points back of Mooney followed by Upper Sandusky, Apple Creek Waynedale, Coshocton, Bellaire and Delta.
Other division leaders are Cleveland St. Ignatius in Division I, Macedonia Nordonia in Division II, Cleveland Benedictine in Division III, Marion Pleasant in Division V, and Columbus Grove in Division VI.
