South Point answered with a 65-yard scoring drive to get within 8-6.

Coal Grove missed out on a golden scoring opportunity when Chris Brammer intercepted a pass at the South Point 15-yard line.

But two plays later, the Pointers picked off a pass and returned it 95 yards for what proved to be the winning touchdown.

Coal Grove managed to move the ball inside the Pointers 20-yard line on three different occasions in the second half, but South Point's defense held each time.

The Hornets defense held the Pointers to 90 total yards while racking up 139 rushing and 15 passing. Matt Cooper led the offense with 97 yards on 21 carries.

Brammer had five tackles and an interception to spark the defense. B.J. Harbolt and Cooper each had five tackles. Murphy recovered a fumble.

This Thursday, Coal Grove (2-1) travels to Oak Hill while South Point (1-2) travels to Fairland.
