Bats go silent as Redmen fall to Valley

PEDRO -- The bats took the day off.
After hitting well the first two games, the Rock Hill Redmen couldn't get their bats going Friday as they lost 12-1 to the Lucasville Valley Indians in a non-league game.
Rock Hill had just five hits in suffering its first loss after two wins.
"We just didn't hit the ball, and they have a nice ball club," Redmen coach Barry Litteral said.
Lucasville took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Rock Hill came right back to tie the game in the bottom of the frame.
Nathan Litteral singled, stole second, went to third on a ground out, and came home when Kyle Lewis reached on an error.
But the Indians got five runs in the third and four in the fourth to build a 10-1 lead.
"We had runners in scoring position but couldn't get them in. The pitcher had a nice curve and a nice change up and he knew when to use them," coach Litteral said.
Matt Wilson went 2-for-2 for the Redmen. Nathan Litteral, T. J. Blagg and Lewis had one hit each.
The Redmen (2-1) play at South Point Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
