Ironton school officials want to improve math and science proficiency scores at the high school, and are hoping a recently conducted audit of their programs will provide direction on the matter.
IHS principal Dean Nance said the auditors from Peac Inc., of Lexington, Ky., visited the school
March 10 and 11.
"They come with a list of things they want to do, want to look at," Nance said. "They looked at our lesson plans, our curriculum mapping. They talked to students, parents, teachers and administrators. They observed our classes."
The audit team will report their findings and recommendations for improvement in three to four weeks.
"We wanted to do this because Symmes Valley said it helped them. They did this a couple of years ago," Nance said. "They (the audit team) provide intensive data and statistics. This is what will drive our math and science program over the next couple of years. IT will be information we can use to improve."
This is the first time the high school has asked for an academic audit.
