Ironton steals win from Rams

One of these days, TV Land will air reruns of Robert Wagner in the show, "It Takes A Thief."
Brigham Waginger will think he's watching himself.
Waginger turned one of his five steals into a layup with 27 seconds to play as the Ironton Fighting Tigers slipped past the Raceland Rams 34-32 Tuesday.
Raceland was playing for the last shot, but Waginger took the ball just across halfcourt and raced the other way for the layup.
The Rams came back and tried to set up a play, but a pass was knocked out of bounds. The inbounds pass was bad and the ball was deflected by Waginger who then dove on the floor, grabbed the ball and called time out with 10 seconds to go.
Ironton ran five seconds off the clock before being fouled to set up another inbounds play. The ball was knocked away on the re-entry pass, but it rolled on the court as time ran out.
"Brigham has quick hands and he has good instincts," Ironton coach Roger Zornes said. "He made a move for the ball and came up with a big play."
Raceland threatened early to make the game a runaway by taking a 9-2 lead with 2:57 left in the first quarter. Josh Sands then hit a 3-pointer to get Ironton within 9-5 at the end of the quarter.
A 3-point by Kevin Chinn gave the Rams a 14-7 lead with 5:27 left in the half, but they would not score again the rest of the quarter.
Waginger and Dennis Gagai hit consecutive 15-footers over the final minutes of the half as Ironton closed the gap to 14-12.
Nick Collins tied the game to start the second half and Waginger's baseline jumper put Ironton ahead for the first time at 16-14.
A 3-pointer by Donnie Rigsby and layup by Tyler Sammons sent the Rams ahead 24-19. Sands answered with a 3-point, but Ribsby's 10-footer gave Raceland a 26-22 lead after three quarters.
Ironton's defense limited Raceland to a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to set up Waginger's winning theft.
Sands led Ironton with 9 points. Waginger and Gagai had 8 points each.
Rigsby had 13 points including three 3-pointers to lead the Rams. Overall, Raceland was 13 of 36 from the field and only 6 of 18 from behind the arc.
In the reserve game, Ironton won 51-24 as Marcus Williams had 14 pionts, Brent McBride 11, and Steve Elswick 10. Josh Miller led the Rams with 11.
