Girls add sectional pairings to crowded rescheduling problems

Trying to find room for postponed regular season games is a problem. Trying to work them in before the sectional tournament is another.

The second "problem" arrived Sunday following the girls high school basketball sectional tournament drawings.

In the Division III sectional at Rock Hill High School, Oak Hill (14-1) drew the No. 1 seed while the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers (12-4) got the second seed in a close vote over South Point (8-6).

Chesapeake (5-10) plays Wheelersburg (5-9) at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10. In the lower bracket on Wednesday, Feb. 12, Ironton faces Coal Grove (2-12) at 6:15 p.m. followed by South Point and Fairland (7-7) at 8 p.m.

Finals are Saturday, Feb. 15, as Oak Hill plays the Chesapeake-Wheelersburg winner at 1 p.m. and the lower bracket winners square off at 2:45 p.m.

In Division II at Chillicothe Huntington Ross High School, the Rock Hill Redwomen (9-3) were the third seed behind Greenfield McClain (15-1) and Miami Trace (11-4).

Rock Hill is in the lower bracket and plays at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, against No. 6 seed Hillsboro (7-9). Miami Trace goes against McDermott Northwest (6-7) in the first game at 6:15 p.m.

The two winners meet at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15.

In the upper bracket, Waverly (4-13) and Washington Court House (5-10) play Feb. 10 with the winner facing McClain at 6:15 on Feb. 12. Logan Elm (9-8) and Circleville (9-7) plays Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. Wednesday's winners meet at 1 p.m. Feb. 15.

The Division IV tournament has been moved from Alexander to Vinton County High School.

In bracket No. 1, Green (5-10) plays Hemlock Miller (2-14) at 7 p.m. on Feb. 10. The winner advances to play No. 1 seed Southern (12-3) at 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 13.

In the third bracket, St. Joseph (0-12) plays Symmes Valley *8-6) at 8 p.m. on Feb. 12. The winner moves on to face No. 3 seed Trimble (10-4) at 2:45 p.m. on Feb. 15.

Bracket No. 2 has South Gallia (2-14) playing Crooksville (4-12) at 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 12 with the winner going against No. 2 Waterford (10-4) at 1 p.m. Feb. 15.

Eastern Meigs (9-5) plays Beaver Eastern (7-5) at 8 p.m. on Feb. 13 in the fourth bracket.
