One of two Ironton men who were arrested over the weekend and charged with misconduct involving an 11-year-old girl now faces a rape charge in connection with that incident.
Andrew Pate, 19, was arraigned in Ironton Municipal Court yesterday. Judge Clark Collins set a $50,000 bond and appointed attorney Jason Smith as his legal counsel. He had earlier been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and obstructing police business.
David Blevins, 18, who was arrested with Pate, was arraigned yesterday on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and obstructing police business. Collins set Blevins' bond at $2,500 and appointed Chris Delawder as his legal counsel.
Both men remain in the Lawrence County Jail.
The mother of the 11-year-old girl came to the Ironton Police Department Friday night to report her daughter missing. The woman said she was supposed to pick up her daughter and a friend at Sparetime, but when she arrived at 11 p.m. the child was not there. The mother later reported that she believed her daughter was with a 19-year-old man at Lawrence Street Apartments.
The girl and the two men were allegedly found at 11 a.m. Saturday morning at the home of an acquaintance on Lawrence Street. Ironton police say the two men were arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
