LISBON -- Congressman Ted Strickland announced a riverboat &uot;whistle-stop&uot; tour of Ohio’s newly drawn Sixth Congressional District.
&uot;This will be a unique opportunity for me to communicate with citizens and become better acquainted with the communities along the river,&uot; said Strickland, who represents Ohio’s current Sixth Congressional District. &uot;After Ohio’s redistricting efforts, the most unifying geographic feature that links nearly all counties in this district is the magnificent Ohio River. This tour will be an opportunity to emphasize the importance of this natural resource to our entire region.&uot;
Strickland made the announcement aboard the boat which will take him from Columbiana county in the northern end of the district to at least Lawrence County in the southern part of the district. The tour will begin October 5, 2002.
Rallies will be conducted along the way, and other boaters are encouraged to follow along and take part in the tour. From staff reports
