April 14, 1905-May 22, 2002 PORTSMOUTH -- Mae W. Otworth, 97, of Portsmouth died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Golden Years Convalescent Center.
The Elliott County, Ky., native was born April 14, 1905, the daughter of the late Alphonso and Molly Waddell Wheeler.
She was the wife of the late William C. Otworth, whom she married Dec. 31, 1923, in Sandy Hook, Ky.
She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and worked for seven years at the former Marc Canters Copy Kat in Portsmouth; and ten years at the Cotton Shop in Fort Myers Beach, Fla.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Walter Otworth; three brothers, Russell Wheeler, James Wheeler and Emory Wheeler; and two sisters, Mary Holbrook Holman and Clara Sprouse.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, James Robert and Peggy Otworth of Hanover Park, Ill., Franklin and Marjorie Otworth of Portsmouth and David Otworth of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Betty Otworth of Xenia; one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Harriet Wheeler of Ironton; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth, with the Rev. John Gowdy officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
