February is "Library Lovers Month" adult librarian Susan Beaver said, and in order to celebrate, the library is breaking out the card stock paper, glue, scissors, rubber stamps, and, of course, hearts to make Valentine’s Day cards.

About a dozen people showed up last night at the first rubber stamping party held at Briggs’ Chesapeake branch. Patrons spent the evening rubber stamping hearts and kisses to their cards, getting the love notes ready to send to their special someone.

Valentines are not the only tribute to love the library has to offer, either, Beaver said. She said the following books will help get people ready for the day of love: "First Loves: Poets Introduce the Essential Poems that Captivated and Inspired Them," edited by Carmela Ciuraru; "The 50 Greatest Love Letters of All Time," edited by David H. Lowenherz; "52 Simple Ways to Say I Love You," by Stephen Arterburn and Carl Dreizler; "A Book of Love Poetry," edited by Jon Stallworthy; "Hearts, Cupids, and Red Roses: The Story of the Valentine Symbols," by Edna Barth.

Beaver said the library offers several events throughout the year for adults, teens, and children.

The schedule of events, Beaver said, is located at http://www.briggslibrary.com/Calendar/CALENDAR_ACTIVITIES.HTM. Other information, Beaver said, can be accessed at the main website, located at http://www.briggslibrary.com.
