The administrative hearing for an Ironton police officer accused of threatening the life of a city councilman has been postponed until Tuesday.
Mayor Bob Cleary said yesterday’s meeting was scheduled in order to meet the time deadline established by the contract with the Fraternal Order of Police.
Cleary said FOP union representative John Heineman asked for a later date for the hearing. The mayor said the extension will help city officials continue their investigation into the case which Cleary called a "complicated" matter and will give union representatives more time to prepare for the administrative hearing.
The hearing stems from allegations that an unnamed city police officer threatened the life of a city councilman while the officer was on duty last Tuesday.
The identities of the parties involved in the situation has not been released.
