The president will approach the stage, gaze over the audience and deliver an address.

Of course, it will be impersonator Bill Gettys, yet the historian’s performance will send chills around the room because of the uncanny resemblance to the president’s real persona.

The event also marks the latest fund-raiser for the Veterans Memorial Committee – the group dedicated to building a new memorial at Woodland Cemetery.

The memorial, with its restored Civil War rifles and paved brick path honoring the area’s veterans, will also send chills around the crowds who will see it when finished. And rightly so.

Too often we forget that sacrifice has made this country, our home.

When we see it, this memorial will be another way to remember.
