The Ironton Fighting Tigers avenged an earlier loss to Cabell Midland and beat four other teams in the process Monday as they won a six-team match at the Ironton Country Club.
Ironton slipped past Midland by two strokes, 152 to 154. The Fairland Dragons had a solid third place finish at 161 followed by Chesapeake at 176, South Point 178, and Rock Hill had a 197 team score.
Fighting Tigers senior Adam Rudmann took medalist honors with a 1-under par 35, and fellow senior Bo McGinnis was just one over at 37. Michael McGraw and Bobby Payton each carded strong rounds of 40.
Rounding out the Ironton team were Andy Brown and Josh Cartmell, each with rounds of 44.
Midland’s Zach Baldwin and Scott Redmond each shot 38 while Jerod Harper and J. T. Rowsey had 39s.
Austin Burcham led Fairland with a 37. Matt Hansford and Josh Dunfee each shot a 41, Kyle Leadman had a 42, Brad Taliaferro 45, and J. J. Ferris 47.
Chesapeake got a 38 from Joey Macri. John Paul Kelley had a 44, Phillip Butcher and Abe Huff each had a 47, Nick Karle a 48, and T. R. Hannon 49.
For South Point, Tyler Stapleton shot a 39, Ryan Matney 43, Adam Gaskin 45, Brandon Skeens 51, Jarod Enyart 59, and Erik Mannon 63.
Joey Crabtree had a 45 and Valerie McCoy a 47 to lead Rock Hill. Ryan Norris shot a 50 and Kevin Kouns 55.
In a reserve match on Monday, Fairland topped Ironton 204-to-217.
Andy Pittman shot a 47 and Brian Williams 49 to lead Fairland. Chris Hansford had a 53, Joey Zundel 55, and Kendall Staggs 66.
For Ironton, T. J. Parnell carded a 42 followed by Jeff Parnell with a 57. Justin Gillum and Chandler Rowland each had a 59 and Marty Osborne a 61.
