Ryan Edwards, 25, of 91 Township Road 1090, Proctorville, was arrested this morning and charged with aggravated robbery, dispatchers said.

Sheriff’s detective Jerry Pendleton was interviewing Edwards this morning and could not be reached for comment.

The alleged robbery took place at 900 Rockwood Ave. in Chesapeake at a Rich Oil station sometime around 10 p.m. on Saturday, according to sheriff’s deputy Aaron Bollinger’s report.

The sheriff’s department received the call at 10:11 p.m. and dispatched Bollinger to the scene in addition to advising Chesapeake and Proctorville police departments.

Store employees described the suspect’s vehicle as a red Ford Thunderbird and gave a license plate number, but police patrols on Ohio 7 did not locate the suspect, the reported stated.

Store employee Greg Lambert told Bollinger that a man pulled up to a full-serve pump and ordered gasoline, then exited the vehicle after the gas was pumped. Lambert accompanied the man into the store where he asked for a pack of cigarettes, the report stated.

The man then pulled a black, semi-automatic pistol from his right pants pocket and told Lambert he wanted all the store’s money, the report stated.

Lambert gave him money from the cash register. The man asked for more money, telling Lambert he knew where the store kept it.

They entered the store’s office and the suspect took $1,100 then asked for the store’s video camera VCR. The suspect shot the VCR box several times, Bollinger’s report stated.

The suspect threatened Lambert and two other people who were present not to call the police, then left in the Thunderbird, the report stated.

Detectives were notified and the incident was placed under investigation.
