The arrests follow the Lawrence County Grand Jury’s secret indictment last week of Kevin Adkins, 31, formerly of South 10th Street, and Frank S. Sites, 37, of 513 Wyanoke St., said Tim Sexton, Lawrence County Drug Task Force director and prosecutor J.B. Collier Jr.’s chief investigator.

The task force teamed with Ironton Police Department investigators about three months ago when the prosecutor’s office received complaints about drug activity in those city areas, Sexton said.

"It was about a three-month investigation into the activities of these two subjects," he said. "We made undercover buys and accumulated evidence through surveillance."

Officers served arrest warrants on the suspects Monday night, Sexton said.

Adkins was indicted on 7 felony counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs and trafficking in drugs.

The indictments allege Adkins illegally sold prescription pills, particularly Oxycontin Percosets and others, Sexton said.

Sites, who is on probation from a misdemeanor drug charge last year, faces a four-count felony indictment of aggravated trafficking in drugs and trafficking in drugs for illegal sale of prescription medication, Sexton said.

Adkins and Sites will be arraigned in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court this week, he said.

Task force members and IPD officers were acting on information received on the task force’s drug hotline, Sexton said.

"The suspects were both in locations we received a lot of calls on," he said.

The task force still encourages anyone suspecting illegal drug activity in their neighborhood to report it to the hotline by calling 533-5511, Sexton said.

Residents may leave anonymous tips when they call.
