Not bad for the first year. Jeff Fraley’s transition from high school to college was smooth and productive. The former Rock Hill Redmen All-Ohio star is now at Urbana University where he was a major part of the team’s success.

Fraley, a 6-foot-2 guard/forward, was named to the American Mideast Conference All-Freshman team.

Fraley averaged 10.5 points per game and 2.7 rebounds. He had a season-high 30 points against the Point Park Blue Knights on Dec. 18.

Urbana finished 2-16 in the conference and 4-24 overall.

Ironton still needs game

The schedule was almost complete.

That open date on Friday, Oct. 13 was almost filled. Ironton Fighting Tigers athletic director Mike Burcham sent a contract to the A.D. from Franklin County High School from Brookville, Ind., but the coach had already agreed to play Indianapolis Cathedral Latin.

Franklin County played Cincinnati Moeller this past season and lost 19-18 in overtime.

Ironton’s 2000 schedule to date is:

Aug. 25 at Wheelersburg; Sept. 1 at South Point; Sept. 8 Gallipolis; Sept. 15 Ashland, Ky.; Sept. 23 at Dayton Belmont; Sept. 29 Portsmouth; Oct. 6 Coal Grove; Oct. 13 Open; Oct. 20 Belfry, Ky.; Oct. 27 Columbus St. Francis DeSales.

The game with DeSales begins a two-year contract that will be a home-and-home series.

Hornets complete schedule

The Coal Grove Hornets have completed their football schedule and there will be a few new faces for fans.

Added to the schedule this year will be perennial playoff teams Ironton and Lucasville Valley. Another addition is Vinton County while one holdover is defending Division V state champion Amanda-Clearcreek.

Ironton was the 1999 Division IV state runner-up.
