COLUMBUS – Doug Wiley ran into a buzz saw.
Wiley, a senior for the Chesapeake Panthers, lost in the opening round of the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division III state wrestling tournament at the Ohio State University Schottenstein Center.
The 189-pound Wiley faced Jordan Spore of Cincinnati Wyoming in his first match and lost a major decision, 16-5.
Spore was a starter for the Wyoming football team that placed first in Region 16 of Division IV in the computer playoff ratings.
The setback left Wiley with an impressive final record of 32-10. Wiley finished fourth in the Southeast District meet.
