Point guard Jessica Ensor tried to play with a hairline fracture in her shooting hand, and long-range shooter Ashley Hannon was forced out of the game with reaccuring back problems.

But he might save his most desperate call for someone to guard Noel Mains.

Down 12 points in the third quarter, Mains scored 6 points to spark a comeback as the South Point Lady Pointers beat Ironton 54-47 Thursday.

"Noel did a nice job of penetrating and creating her own shots," said Richardson.

"She’s intense and a great leaders. She reminds me of someone I used to go up against in practice everyday now playing Div. I ball for Navy (Kristen Kavanaugh)."

Mains finished with 22 points and Sheree Powell added 12 as South Point improved to 6-8.

Ironton (4-8) got a big game from Sarah Herman with 15 points and nine rebounds. Candace Ferguson had 12 points and hauled down 17 rebounds. Carly Isaac scored a career-high 13 points.

"Sarah, Candace, and Carly all scored double figures. With Hannon and Ensor out indefinitely, we’ll need others to step up," Richardson said.

South Point led 12-7 after the first quarter, but Isaac and Herman had six each the second quarter as Ironton took a 25-22 halftime lead.

After Ironton came out and went up 12 to begin the second half, Hannon went to the bench and Ensor fouled out early in the fourth quarter as South Point began its comeback.

Powell scored six points and Whitney Morrison five the fourth quarter as South Point completed the rally.
